The United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania is seeking an Administrative Assistant to work under the direct supervision of the Vice President – Workplace Campaign. This position provides administrative and secretarial support for the Vice President and six Corporate Relations Managers. In addition to Microsoft Office suite work, filing and scheduling, United Way’s administrative assistant will perform duties such as coordination of meetings and conferences, database data entry and management, obtaining supplies, coordinating direct mailings, and working on special projects. Also, answers correspondence and assembles confidential and sensitive information. Deals with a diverse group of important external callers and visitors as well as internal contacts at all levels of the organization. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize and organize diversified workload, recommends changes in office practices or procedures.

A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in general office responsibilities and procedures. Proficient with Microsoft Office products and excellent customer service skills.

Teaching Position Announcement

Falk School, a coeducational K-8 school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is currently seeking full-time teachers for the next academic year beginning August, 2018.

Elementary Teacher

(Kindergarten)

Candidates should have successful teaching experience in a Kindergarten or an elementary classroom setting and experience in unit planning in all relevant content areas. She/he must be an individual who is sensitive to children’s differences and needs while also understanding the importance of developing strong working relationships with families. He/she must be a teacher who exhibits an authentic passion and enthusiasm for progressive education, and one who understands and appreciates the value of inquiry and exploration. She/he must be a self-motivated, life-long learner who is willing to work in an intellectually demanding setting with high-expectations. The position involves working in close collaboration with colleagues in a co-teaching model so strong communication skills with an openness to ideas and perspectives are essential.

A Master’s Degree and a degree in elementary education or equivalent coursework are required.

Learning Specialist

We are seeking a Learning Specialist with experience working with children with a range of disabilities. Candidates must have empathy for, and a genuine interest in, developing positive educational experiences for students with Learning Disabilities, executive function difficulties, and other learning differences. Duties of a Falk Learning Specialist will include: Collaboration with staff members and parents/guardians in order to create and implement intervention programs; Administration of initial screening and diagnostic testing in both reading and math; Developing and teaching motivating, engaging lessons, Creating modifications and adaptations to support instruction; preparing reports on students’ progress.

A Master of Education Degree in the field of Special Education is required.

The United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania is seeking an individual responsible for continuing to build a quality out-of-school time network through promoting the need for quality and building neighborhood based collaborations. Specifically, the APOST Manager of Partnerships and Quality Improvement will oversee the day-to-day project management of the Quality Improvement Initiative (which includes the APOST Quality Campaign and Professional Development Plan) and the neighborhood coalition-building efforts (One Northside and Hill Youth Partnership for Enrichment).

What is APOST? An initiative of The United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania, is a county-wide network dedicated to increasing quality and access of out-of-school programming for children and youth in the region.

Bachelor’s degree required. Plus, a minimum of 3 years’ experience in afterschool, youth development or related field; and a minimum of 2 years’ experience managing others. Masters level degree preferred but not required.

The Municipality of Penn Hills Personnel Board has scheduled an agility test and a written examination for the position of Police Officer I for Tuesday, April 17, 2018, promptly at 10:00 A.M. at the Allegheny County Police Training Academy, 700 West Ridge Road, North Park, Allison Park, PA 15101-1799.

The principal requirements are (prior to the deadline for submitting applications):

•Have reached 21 years of age.

•Be a United States citizen.

•Possess a diploma from an accredited high school or a graduate equivalency diploma.

•Be physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of a police officer.

•Submit MPOETC letter of successful completion of required testing or current MPOETC certification.

•Possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.

•Have no visible tattoos in a short sleeve uniform shirt.
