The war is not over for the Kardashian sisters concerning Blac Chyna’s request to trademark Angela Renee Kardashian. Last week it was reported that the family’s attorney automatically blocked the former stripper from securing the name ahead of her nuptials to Robert Arthur Kardashian aka Rob, the youngest sibling.
And while their mom-manager Kris, whose legal last name is Jenner, allegedly backed away from the lawsuit Khloe, Kim and Kourtney, are still pursuing the name block.
As reported by PEOPLE: On Wednesday, it was revealed that the Kardashian family’s lawyers had filed papers to block Chyna from trademarking the name “Angela Renée Kardashian,” her presumed new legal name if she marries fiancé Rob.
According to the documents previously obtained by PEOPLE, the sisters’ companies claim they’ll “suffer damage including irreparable injury to their reputation and goodwill” if Chyna takes the Kardashian name. The documents also say that Rob’s fiancée is “deliberately seeking to profit from the goodwill and popularity” by changing her name. Chyna’s lawyer told PEOPLE that the news of the Kardashians’ filing was a shock and he’s hoping it was all just a misunderstanding from their lawyers.
“The Kardashians, like Angela and my other clients are very protective of our marks, I think for us this is going to be a clear case win, because it’s actually her name, it’s not a poaching,” Chyna’s lawyer Walter Mosley said. “I would hope that this is just a junior lawyer’s error, who’s just responding to everything and not really looking at who it’s from or why it was filed. There’s a softer side of this where Angela has to have a conversation with her family.”
Despite the turmoil, Kris and Kylie Jenner came by to visit Dream Kardashian, Chyna’s newborn daughter with Rob. The baby celebrated her month birthday on Saturday after being born Nov 10.
What’s strange is that while it appears Kylie and Chyna are getting along —despite swapping brother for baby daddy (Tyga)— the other sisters are not here for welcoming her into the clique, via surname.
Just gonna wait and see what happens with this case, but at least there’s one less legal situation for Khloe.
