It was great talking to Anthony Hamlet, the new superintendent of Pittsburgh Public Schools at a recent Editorial Board.
It was like a breath of fresh air. This guy is determined to figure out what is best for Black and White students in the public schools, thus making Pittsburgh one of the leaders in the country in educating Black students.
He’s not a know it all, he’s willing to listen to others views—parents, teachers, administrators, politicians, and students before he makes a decision. But the final decision has to come from him as to what is best for Pittsburgh Public School students.
And he’s working with a great board. Most are educators or have advanced educations and understand the city, the students and are just as concerned as Hamlet is to finding the key to quality education for our children, thus opening doors to the corporate world as well as industry all over this world.
