PITTSBURGH, PA – At approximately 2:04 a.m. Zone 5 received a Shotspotter notification for several shots fired in the 7400 block of Frankstown Avenue. An Officer on patrol was already in the area and made contact with several victims who stated a man hit their car, parked his, and left the scene. The actor’s car was still on scene. Officers obtained a description of the actor and began to search for him.

At approximately 2:27 a.m. the actor – later identified as Ronald Thornhill, 35, of Turtle Creek – returned and entered the vehicle. When Officers ordered Thornhill to show his hands, he exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Thornhill fled from Officers until he ran into a marked police vehicle on Forest Way and N. Braddock Avenue. Thornhill fell to the ground and sustained a laceration to the head and injured ankle. He was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

Officers found a digital scale, a knotted baggie of suspected cocaine and two cell phones on Thornhill’s person. An additional baggie of suspected cocaine and two additional baggies of marijuana were located in the vehicle.

Thornhill’s charges include possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, and resisting arrest or other law enforcement.  He will be transported to the Allegheny County Jail upon release.
