DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) _ A Black transgender woman has settled a complaint against a central Iowa hotel she says discriminated against her because of her gender identity and race.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Iowa filed an Iowa Civil Rights Commission complained in November on behalf of 23-year-old Meagan Taylor.

Taylor, of St. Louis, was traveling with a friend, also a transgender woman, last July. They stopped at the Drury Inn & Suites in West Des Moines for the night but encountered staff suspicious of their appearance. Police were called and Taylor was arrested on a charge of possession of a hormone drug without a prescription. She spent eight days in jail but charges were later dropped.

Details of the settlement weren’t released.

A Drury Inn spokeswoman didn’t immediately respond to a message.
