The ultimate girl’s getaway is set to be some of the best fun you’ve had in the theaters in awhile, as Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett-Smith and Regina Hall are all confirmed to star in the upcoming film Girl Trip.
As reported by Shadow and Act, the Universal Pictures release will be helmed by The Best Man and The Best Man Holiday director Malcolm D. Lee and produced by Will Packer, who is currently riding high on the successful Roots remake.
Regina Hall was cast early in the upcoming feature, with Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett-Smith currently nearing the end of contract negotiations. Girl Trip centers around four best friends who decide to take a trip to the Essence Music Festival held in New Orleans, there they deepen their bond, explore their wild sides and have plenty of time leftover for fun, romance, laughter and hijinks. There is no word yet who the last member of the bestie quartet will be, although another A-list name is likely.
Fans will quickly note that this is the first time that real-life friends Latifah and Pinkett-Smith have starred together since their powerful and unforgettable turns as Stoney and Cleo in the classic film Set It Off back in 1996.
Previously Girl Trip was scheduled for an August 11, 2017 release, but Universal has decided to move it up to July 21, 2017 instead. This film looks to be a lot of fun, featuring some of our favorite leading ladies!
