“Stomping at the Savoy” was set aside for one night for “Saluting at the Savoy” as Achieving Greatness Inc., along with Mayor Bill Peduto and County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, hosted the 15th Annual Pittsburgh and Allegheny County Public Service Awards, honoring our local heroes…those who protect and serve!
The historic evening began with the National Anthem sung by Jazz Garcelle, Pittsburgh native and national recording artist. She was joined by flag colors presented by the Homewood-Brushton Boy Scout Troop.
Fitzgerald recognized and paid honor to those being rewarded for outstanding service above and beyond the call of duty, followed by a heart lifting speech by keynote speaker and Super Bowl champion, Judge Dwayne Woodruff.
Honorees included Michael Mitchell and Michael Nalls of the boy scouts, Mike Clark of WTAE, Officer Patrick Ford of the Penn Hills Police Department, Melvin Hubbard El from the Office of State Rep. Ed Gainey, retired County Police Superintendent Charles Moffatt, Sergeant James Fike, of the National Guard, Yasmin Shaheed, Pittsburgh Housing Authority; Valerie Dixon, B-PEP social advocate and Will Anderson, City Officer and Community Liason Michael Gay and retired State Trooper Rick Murphy.
Special thanks go out to Chuck Sanders and Gary White at the Savoy, East Liberty McDonalds, Congressman Mike Doyle, Attorneys William & Jack Goodrich and corporate media sponsor Staples in East Liberty. Co-sponsors Diversified Municipal Services, UPMC and Highmark.
