In 2013, and in response to the senseless violence and murders inside Allegheny County, Stop the Violence-Pittsburgh was established as a community-based network partner that addressed killings among teens and youth in the African American communities, supports other agencies who offer viable, reputable and well thought-of experiences and options to children, youth and young adults in their development towards adulthood.

Not immune to victimization, the organization has also suffered the personal loss through senseless acts of violence committed within Allegheny County (robbery and shooting death of Maurice “Big Penny” Clayborne in 2013 and the domestic killing of Delicious Jones in 2014).
