April 16 was a beautiful sunny day and dozens of ladies attended the Annual Tea presented by The Senior Missionary Society No.1 of Homewood A.M.E. Zion Church where Reverend Stanley Dennison is the pastor. The centerpiece of the tea were guest models, Brenda Tate, Nicole Smith and Cheryl Lumsden modeling little black dresses and fashionable hats and fascinators.

The ladies in attendance wore beautiful hats as well as this year’s tea pourers Hope Pickens and Debra Hairston. This year we met three “tea pourers in training” Alena Thornhill, Savannah Lewis and Shaya Berry-Thomas. The Missionary Society presented them with fans in the shape of teapots. Guests also enjoyed the smooth gospel vocals of James W. White, a familiar voice at Homewood A.M.E. Zion.

The members of the Senior Missionary Society No.1 are: Toni Phinisee, president; Mary Pryor, vice president; Bernadette Gibson, recording secretary; Yvonne Smith, Corresponding Secretary; Gloria Brown, treasurer; Sheila Johnson chaplain; Regina Buckner, Janie Charley, Essie Copeland, Twanda Dennis, Debra Dennison, Eula Ford, Florence Ann Reed, Shirley Taylor and Lois Washington.
