Fredric “Fu” Underwood III brought his “Does My Opinion Count” Poetry Showcase to the city recently, where many gathered at the Kelly Strayhorn Theatre to witness different forms of art unfold.

“I have to say thank you; from the heart and through the soul,” Underwood said. “Everybody’s opinion does count, it’s about who you voice your opinion to and when. Everything comes into play and I’m learning to listen to these opinions more and more. So I thank you!”

Twenty-four different poets graced the stage, allowing their lyrical talent to fill the ears of those who were in the audience. The participating poets were: Cam, Blaire, Josh, Mario, Shayla, Robert, Dev Swayn, Raediah, Mike Smalls, Kierra Walker, Gerald Brooks, Imani Jai, Khalil, Allie Rose, Dewey Markie, Z Bey Da Poet, Leon Ford, Gracie Tha Elixir, Terrel Milliner, Jihad Da Kon Scion, Jas Jones, Jay Oriola, and Fredric “Fu” Underwood.

State Rep. Ed Gainey took to the stage during intermission to encourage the youth to get involved and register to vote for the upcoming election.
