DEBBIE NORRELL

DEBBIE NORRELL

How many “Sanford and Son” reruns can I take? No more, none, zilch; I’ve had it. I’m tired of the junkyard, the father and the son. It seems like every time I turn on BET or TV One all I see are “Martin,” “Goodtimes” or “Sanford and Son.” From time to time I do run into “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” “Moesha” and “The Jeffersons,” but there are so many other sitcoms that could be featured. Why not show them?

It seems like we have been watching George and Wheezy since the beginning of time. I was just checking a list of the top Black sitcoms and the top 10 are the ones being shown the most. Ok, I get it. Go with the winners. But the other 15 were also good shows. How about showing “Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper,” “Different Strokes” and “Roc?” It’s Black History Month,  how about some “Julia” reruns? I would love to see that show again.

There are some Black shows you can only catch real late at night or early in the morning. I got up early to do some work one day and caught an episode of G. Garvin featuring Black restaurants in Harlem and New Orleans. Now that is something I would like to see more of. And his cooking show, what happened to that show? I thought it was excellent. I even bought his cook book.
