Father and son were never any closer than last week, when, Khalid Blount, the son of former Pittsburgh Steelers and NFL Hall of Fame cornerback Mel Blount, announced that he is headed to Forbes Avenue next season to play for coach Jerry Schmitt and the Duquesne Dukes. Duquesne plans to play him at nose guard and defensive tackle.
Blount transferred from The Linsly School in Wheeling, W.Va., after his freshman season and became a Washington High School Prexie.
His parents, Mel and TiAnda, and his high school coach Mike Bosnic, supports his decision.
“What’s scary is he has so much potential and rare strength,” said coach Bosnic. “He is a hard worker and he puts in the time in the classroom.”
Under Bosnic, a former lineman at Pitt, the line play continues to be a strength and his coaching specialty.
