This has become a huge issue behind the Social Media efforts of Jada Pinkett Smith who is fighting to get Blacks to boycott the Oscars because for the second year straight no Blacks have been nominated out of the entire 20 categories nominated.

Let me repeat that, nominated. Not win or place, but nominated.

Are we going backward? About 30 years or more ago Eddie Murphy blasted the Academy powers for the lack of Black representation in any category, for years, and even though it didn’t help Eddie Murphy because he was already a mega star, it helped the industry as a whole because now we have: Denzel Washington, Samuel L. Jackson, Morgan Freeman, Cuba Gooding Jr., Danny Glover, Wesley Snipes, Jamie Foxx, Ice Cube, Martin Lawrence, Will Smith, Laurence Fishburne, Mario Van Peebles, Terrence Howard, Don Cheadle, Forest Whitaker, Morris Chestnut, Taye Diggs, and Louis Gossett to join those lonely names back then of Sidney Poitier, Bill Cosby, Harry Belafonte, Jim Brown, Fred Williamson, Billy Dee Williams and James Earl Jones.
