A New York native claims the NYPD went too far when they allegedly crushed his genital area after falsely accusing him of robbery.
According to the New York Daily News, the incident between Corey Green, 33, and a group of unidentified officers occurred Saturday evening when Green was returning to a friend’s home in the Bed-Stuy area of Brooklyn. Police claim Green was running from the scene of a crime in which a Chinese takeout worker was robbed. After officers entered his friend’s home, they allegedly pointed a gun at Green and ordered him to stand outside in a line of other potential suspects.
When the worker identified another man, Green walked away. According to his lawyer, Sanford Rubenstein, Green was then grabbed by his shoulder and neck, and tossed to the ground while another officer kicked him.
A background check found that Green had an outstanding warrant for a DWI arrest. He was taken to the 81st Precinct, where he complained of “extreme pain.” He was then transported to a local hospital. Green says his scrotum was crushed when the second officer kicked him with his boot. On Sunday, Green went into surgery to restore blood flow to his genitals.
NY Daily News reports:
“This is certainly an outrageous example of wrongdoing and we are calling on the Brooklyn district attorney’s office to present evidence to a grand jury,” Rubenstein said.
“It was inhumane. It was done to inflict a powerful pain,” said Corey’s father John Green, 52.
Rubenstein says an investigation has been launched. This week, Green was questioned by Internal Affairs and shown photographs of police officers.
His father told the New York Post Green had to get one of his testicles removed. Green has not confirmed whether he lost a testicle or not.
