Pittsburgh’s No. 1 radio station for hip-hop and R&B, recently held their most anticipated event of the year… WAMO Day! The event took place on June 28 at Stage AE.

Every year, WAMO holds this event where family and friends can gather to enjoy live entertainment, good music and fun. DJ and radio personality Mike Jax kept the crowd moving as he deejayed during the event, and was sure to play all the latest tunes. Two of WAMO’s hottest radio personalities hosted the event; Sharmyn Shanell and Jax.

“WAMO Day seems to be getting better and better every year,” attendee Rich Jeter said.  “I got to give credit when its due, and I appreciate this event because it gives an opportunity for the entire family to get out and have fun! Shout out to Pittsburgh’s #1 Radio Station.”

Live performances included singer Shana Valre, rapper Kidd Keem, SCR, and more. And live entertainment didn’t stop there, there were also live dancing and gospel performances.

Rapper Boaz was the main performing event.

“I had to come through to support my favorite group, SCR, and hear Boaz rap my jam! But I enjoyed all the performances, and I support all Pittsburgh local talent,“ attendee Danica Boyd said.

WAMO was sure to take care of the kids of the community by providing Clowns, balloons, Moon Bounces, games, and face painting.

Contests took place during WAMO Day, where WAMO gave event attendees the opportunity to play games and enter drawings to win multiple prizes. They gave away Kennywood tickets, Nicki Manaj and Wiz Khalifa concert tickets, 4th of July Comedy Show tickets and WAMO T-Shirts.

“I believe summer is all about spending quality time with family and friends, and it’s because of events like WAMO Day that make it possible. This was a great event to attend with my whole family. My kids had fun,“ attendee Cheri Chapman said.

Residents of the city came from all neighborhoods to attend this year’s WAMO Day and filled the venue for family fun.

Malikqua Salter of WAMO’s Street Team said, “WAMO Day took a lot of hard work and preparation into making this event happen. Waking up early hours, attending meetings, holding auditions, and more but after seeing the overall result of the event, I quickly realized it was all worth it.”
