ATLANTA — The hometown boy returned home again to celebrate theater with his celebrity friends, family and fans.
Clark Atlanta University alum and Tony award-winning director Kenny Leon hosted his annual Celebrity Golf Tournament and “Blues in the Night” gala, with the artistic director of True Colors Theatre Company serving as host alongside Anna Horsford, and Monica Pearson. Celebrity guests included actor Richard Brooks, actress Jasmine Guy, actor Tory Kittles, basketball legend Julius “Dr. J.” Erving, music producer Teddy Riley, actor Glynn Turman and others.
The event raised funds for the theatre company’s education programs including the National August Wilson Monologue Competition for high school students. This year’s event chairs include Jovita Moore, Kelly Mayfield and Henryand Joanne Kelly.
“Blues in the Night” festivities were hosted by Anna Horsford and Monica Pearson at a private Buckhead residence and included dinner buffet, cocktails, blues entertainment, an as well as the opportunity to mingle with celebrity guests.
