Call & Post Endorses Republican For Governor

In Ohio, Republican Governor John Kasich won the endorsement of The Call & Post, Cleveland’s major Black newspaper. From The Call & Post: On this day, we can say Governor John Kasich has earned our endorsement even if he hadn’t asked for it. We’d also like to add that our support for Kasich is in no means based on the shortcomings of his opponent Ed FitzGerald, but indeed stand upon his own strong points… Over the last four years, we have watched as this governor time and again stand up for Black people. We have seen with our own eyes how he has championed the poor and underserved… today, John R. Kasich is getting our endorsement for the governor of Ohio. Read the entire endorsement HERE.

More on the endorsement:

Politic 365: Black Paper in Ohio Endorses Republican for Governor “Democrats frequently feel they can take Black votes for granted, visit a few churches, and get Black support with close to no effort…During this election cycle, several Democrats have offered nothing to Black voters during their midterm election campaigns.  This endorsement should be particularly jarring to Ohio Democrats…”

The Cleveland Plain-Dealer: Call and Post, Cleveland’s black newspaper, endorses Gov. John Kasich over Ed FitzGerald “Gov. John Kasich’s outreach to Black constituents has earned him praise — and a re-election endorsement — from the Call & Post. The Cleveland newspaper has a large Black readership. While the paper has endorsed Republicans for high office before, its backing of Kasich is notable given that his challenger is Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald, a top local official.”
