OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network has announced an eight-episode order for a new one-hour docu-series “2 Fat 2 Fly” following best friends Ramone Dickerson and Corey Simmons as they navigate their small-town food truck business of the same name, selling a revolutionary twist on a culinary classic: stuffed chicken wings. The series will join the network’s popular Saturday night programming lineup in early 2015.
A sneak peek special of the show aired August 16 at 10 p.m. and was No.1 in the time period on ad-supported cable for African-American women 25-54. The title for the series, “Wingmen,” was changed to the name of their business.
“This series will be a great addition to our Saturday primetime lineup,” said Erik Logan, president, OWN. “The escapades of these two best friends are fun to watch and there seems to be no limit to what they might do in their quest to make their business a huge success.”
While consumers enjoy 2 Fat 2 Fly’s fried, stuffed chicken wing concept, the pair have yet to figure out how to make their food truck business truly successful. Episodes of “2 Fat 2 Fly” will document the triumphs and challenges Ramone and Corey will encounter as they plot their path towards the American dream wing by wing.
“2 Fat 2 Fly” introduces Corey and Ramone, two best friends and creative geniuses who have big dreams for 2 Fat 2 Fly, their small-town food truck business. The Columbia, South Carolina duo invented a revolutionary twist on a culinary classic: stuffed chicken wings. Their secret stuffing technique puts savory dishes like jambalaya and mac & cheese inside a chicken wing.
For Corey and Ramone, this isn’t just another food trend, it’s their meal ticket and chance to strike it rich. “2 Fat 2 Fly” will follow the pair as they attempt to get their crazy business habits in order and make their dreams of owning a million-dollar wing empire a reality.
