Once again the community of Homewood came peacefully together to enjoy the brotherhood and love for old school music.

During the first weekend of August, Community Empowerment Association, headed by CEO Rashad Byrdsong and his staff, presented a great line-up of entertainment for those who braved through the rain soaked Sunday.

SOUL MAN—The one and only Howard Hewitt had the ladies swooning with his sweet falsetto voice.

Due to the unpredictable weather, this year’s concert location took a last minute change of venue. The usual location, Schenley Park in Oakland, had to be scrapped due to weather conditions, and the concert was held at Holy Rosary 7120 Kelly Street, CEA Headquarters, in Homewood.

FULL HOUSE—Adoring fans packed the house to hear Howard Hewitt and Con Funk Shun.

Nonetheless, it was a packed house, SRO for the many fans of 80’s funk style band, Con Funk Shun and the sweet soul sounds of balladeer, Howard Hewitt.
