WPXI-TV reporter and fill-in anchor Vince Sims has accepted a new job at WGCL, the CBS affiliate in Atlanta.  Sims, who had worked at WPXI since June 2003, grew up in Arkansas and had been looking to move back South.

“I’m very excited about the move and more importantly this move gets me back down south where I can be closer to my family that lives in Arkansas. This is also a great move for me professionally, especially since the Atlanta market is one of the top 10 television markets nation,” Sims said in a previous report.

He is expected to start as a reporter in Atlanta by the end of the month, WGCL news director Lane Michaelsen said.

“The past 11 years at WPXI has really been great, I’ve seen a lot of things and covered great stories more importantly the people in this community really have embraced me and that is what I will miss most.” Sims added that moving is something that he considered for a while because getting back to his family was very important to him.

“He is a fantastic reporter and a great guy,” said Mike Oliveira, WPXI news director. “We were fortunate to have had him with us for 11 years.”
