Michael Jace has been charged with murder after shooting his wife, April, in the face in front of their children earlier this week. Jace, known for his role on “The Shield,” faces 50 years to life if convicted. Jace was booked into a Los Angeles jail with bail set at $1 million and is expected to make his first court appearance on Thursday. Jace called the police on himself to report that he shot his wife.
April died from “multiple gunshot wounds,” according to preliminary autopsy results, and now new details have emerged in the horrific killing. According to reports, Jace has a history of abuse and his ex-wife, Jennifer Bitterman, has claimed that he used to beat her with her friend as witnesses. “Seeing the extent of his anger was one of the most terrifying things I have ever seen,”one of Bitterman’s friends said in a sworn testimony.
In a statement, police said that “at this moment, the motive of the murder is believed to be domestic violence.” Jace has also been reportedly facing financial trouble which investigators think may have contributed to he and April’s dispute the night of her death. Their children are currently staying with relatives.
