PITTSBURGH (AP) – Attorneys for three White Pittsburgh police officers have a told a jury in closing arguments that a young Black man was lying when he claimed the officers wrongfully arrested and beat him in 2010.

Attorneys for David Sisak, Michael Saldutte, and Richard Ewing made those arguments Thursday at the close of a retrial in a civil rights lawsuit filed by Jordan Miles.

Defense attorney Robert Leight told jurors that Miles’ wounds have healed, but the officers continue to bear a perception “that they’re rogue cops.”

Miles claims the officers wrongly assumed he was a drug dealer because of his race and dreadlocks. The police deny that.

Miles’ attorney is expected to make closing arguments this afternoon.
