The MBE/WBE/DBE programs came into existence because Blacks and women were not afforded construction or goods and service contracts, not much has changed.

A limited number of Blacks were hired as police officers, but not much has changed.

How many Blacks have cabinet positions?

How many Blacks are on the Pittsburgh payroll and in what positions?

Black unemployment is at an all time high and it’s in correlation to the increase in incarceration of Blacks. The lack of real concern from the administrations about Pittsburgh truly being a city of inclusion is the reason that I and many other Blacks do not see this city as “Someplace Special”. The city of Pittsburgh contrary to what the city fathers profess it truly is a tale of two cities.

Real positive change as it relates to Blacks will never come from elected politicians it can only come from the hearts, minds and courage of conviction found within us.
