PITTSBURGH—The Western Pennsylvania Minority Supplier Development Council honored top regional minority businesses and corporations at their Ninth Annual Awards Gala on Friday, October 4, 2013 at the LeMont Restaurant on Mount Washington.

More than 220 guests filled the LeMont for the sold-out event with gourmet food and live entertainment. The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc., was the Diamond Sponsor of the event. Other sponsors included BNY Mellon, Chevron, Fenner Dunlop, Giant Eagle, Halliburton, Highmark Health Services, Huntington Bank, Jennmar, KORYAK, Novus Staffing Solutions, PJ Dick, UPMC and UPMC Health Plan.

Edmund C. Nelson, Steelers’ Analyst for KDKA-TV, was the Gala’s Master of Ceremony for the fifth year in a row and ended the evening with a tribute to fellow MBE, LC Greenwood who had passed a week prior to the gala. A silent auction was held to raise scholarship money for WPMSDC certified minority business enterprises. Thanks to all of our generous donors, our guests were able to bid on a wide variety of valuable items, such as autographed sports memorabilia, gift certificates, art, and more.
Highmark Health Services was awarded with the coveted Corporation of the Year award for their success in developing minority business, providing opportunities and supporting WPMSDC’s programs.
