The First Baptist Church of McDonald installed Rev. Barry D. Givner as their pastor on June 30. Rev. Givner is the 22nd pastor in this 127-year-old church. He joins Rev. Marion Edmonds, associate pastor, to carry on the legacy of this church.
Reverend Givner was most recently an associate minister of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, Pittsburgh. He is a graduate of Geneva College, receiving a BS degree in Christian Ministry Leadership and a Master of Divinity from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He is currently a doctoral candidate at the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Pittsburgh. He and his wife, the former Joyce Staley, are both graduates of Harty Bible School. Pre-installation services included guest ministers Rev. Kenneth E. Johnson, pastor, Second Baptist Church, Rochester, Pa., and Rev. McMahan Gray, pastor, Second Baptist Church, Penn Hills. On June 30 Rev. Dr. Andre Ivy of Youngsville, N.C., delivered the morning sermon. The evening message was delivered by Rev. Dr. William H. Curtis, pastor, Mt. Ararat Baptist Church.
Reverend Givner is excited about Jesus and what He’s doing in the life of this 127-year-old church.
“I have no doubt that together we will accomplish great things for our church, our community and the Kingdom. As it is written, ‘Eye has not seen nor ear heard, nor the human heart conceived, what God has prepared for those who love Him.’”
First Baptist Church is located at 141 N. McDonald Street in McDonald, Pa., of Washington County.
