A number of the convention’s events, workshops and presentations were designed to highlight the profession, its achievers and NOBLE’s community outreach efforts. Among these were the Youth Leadership Conference, the members’ March through Homewood, and the Award Celebration in which several  distinguished civil rights leaders were honored. The honorees were: Saleem Bhubril, Wendell Freeland, Rev. Jimmy Joe and Dr. Betty Hord Robinson, Dr. Herman Reid, Herman Mitchell and Sylvester Pace.

“It really is a good profession,” said Bryant. “When you think of making a living raising a family, being productive and helpful, there’s nothing else like it. You can make a difference in so many people’s lives.”
