Marla and Dane kickin’ it at CJ’s in the Strip District for her surprise birthday party.

In this edition of the Out and About, I want to take this time to give my condolences to the family and friends of James “Jay” Owens of V.I.P. Entertainment. He had many events in and out of the city of Pittsburgh dealing with entertainment that brought people together from all over and he will be missed. Viewing and Homegoing services will be held at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church located at 271 Paulson Ave., Pittsburgh. The viewing will be Friday, March 15, from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. and the funeral will be Saturday, March 16, at 12 p.m.
This week I visited CJ’s in the Strip District, Savoy Restaurant in the Strip District, The Red Onion in the Hill District and the Benedum Center in Downtown Pittsburgh.
My first stop was at CJ’s in the Strip District where DJ Mike “The Punisher” was on the 1’s and 2’s spinning the hits for the crowd and there was a big birthday party for Aunt Connie, Tiny and Marla thrown by the Woodson family.
My next stop was at Savoy Restaurant in the Strip District where DJ Blakk Steel was featured on the 1’s and 2’s, while everyone enjoyed fine dining and drinks.
My next stop was at the Red Onion where Lindsey, Deteshia and many more celebrated their birthdays in grand style with delicious food and great music.
My final destination was at the Benedum Center in Downtown Pittsburgh where the Lawson Entertainment Group LLC. presented “The Dream Tour” starring Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, El Debarge with Ginuwine as the host who also performed. This concert was off the chain and everyone was on their feet all night long.
