On Sept. 18 the teppanyaki tables were smoking at Benihana in Greentree. On a typical night at Benihana guests gather and enjoy a meal expertly prepared and cooked to perfection on a steel grill, right before their eyes—by a chef that is as much an entertainer as a culinary master. But on this very special night it was the 13th Annual Dave Thomas Celebrity Cook-Off to benefit Three Rivers Adoption Council.

Guests had the opportunity to bid on great packages in the silent auction and a Chinese auction. There were mystery bags to buy and a 50/50 money spin. But the real fun happened when the celebrity guest chefs began to prepare the meal for the special guests and donors for TRAC.

Spotted with smoke in their eyes and knives in their hands were: Walt Maddox of the Marcels; Jack Hunt; Johnny Angel and the Halos; Lynne Hayes-Freeland of KDKA-TV; Kimberly Gill of KDKA-TV; Chris Fennimore of WQED; Elaine Effort, KQV Radio; Tene Croom, Tene Croom Communications; and the Hon. Kim Berkeley Clark of the Court of Common Pleas.

TRAC CEO Jackie Wilson says, “Without the support of the businesses, individuals in our region, this success would not be possible. We thank you for your generosity on this night and throughout the year.”

TRAC focuses on improving adoption services and increasing adoption opportunities for children with special needs, minority children of all ages, children with disabilities, older children and sibling groups.
