Women’s Weekend

JUNE 1—Monumental Missionary Baptist Church, 2240 Wylie Ave., Hill District, will host it Women’s Day Weekend at 7 p.m. This three-day celebration will be a weekend of healing, hope and encouragement for families who have lost their loved ones to violence or sudden death. The guests will be Rev. Marie Kelly, Valerie Dixon of the Center for Victims of Violent Crimes, and Sherisse and Naomi Zenmon. On June 2 there will be a Morning Glory Brunch at 11 a.m. and a 100 Women in White worship service on June 3 at 11 a.m. with guest preacher Rev. Shelly Mitchell. Church Yard Sale

Leadership Conference

JUNE 2—The Department of Education of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, 90 Port Perry Rd., North Versailles, will host “Experiencing ‘Leader Shift:’ A day of enlightenment and enrichment’” from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. This is the second part of their leadership conference. The workshop facilitator will be Rev. Dr. Darryl Canady of Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church. Registration is required and the cost is $10. For more information, call 412-823-2841.

Choir Rehearsals

JUNE 2—The Allegheny Union Baptist Association of Greater Pittsburgh will host its Mass Choir Rehearsals from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 716 Walnut St., McKeesport. First Sundays

JUNE 3—Tori Walker and Eric Blackwell will host Sundays Gospel Jazz Jam Session at 4 p.m. at Cabaret Hall, 7928 Frankstown Ave., Homewood. The first Sunday of every month guests will have the opportunity to enjoy music from various artists. It can be gospel, secular, instrumental or poetry as long as it plants a positive seed. Episcopal Celebration

JUNE 8—The Church of God In Christ will host an Episcopal Celebration for Bishop Loran Mann at 6 p.m. at the Westin Convention Center Hotel, 1000 Penn Ave., Downtown. Bishop Mann is the current Prelate of the Vermont Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of COGIC Inc. The special guest will be the Most Rev. Charles E. Blake, presiding bishop of the COGIC Inc. Wellness Breakfast

JUNE 9—Greater Allen AME Church, 3600 California Ave., Brighton Heights, will host its Wellness Breakfast at 9 a.m. This is in celebration of the church’s Men’s Season. The theme is “Men of Valor.” There will be screenings and lectures conducted by the UPMC Cancer Center, the Pittsburgh Black Nurses in Action and the Health Department, along with K. Chase Patterson and Calvin Sheffield. On June 10 there will be a special worship service at 10:30 a.m. with guest preacher Rev. Andrew Cooper.
