On March 31 at the Olympia Banquet Hall in East Pittsburgh, Bon Ami Temple # 49, IBPO Elks of the World, celebrated 100 years with a dinner dance.

On this beautiful Saturday evening they honored two of their own. Daughter Deborah Winbush, Past Presiding Daughter Ruler, Ruth Temple #116, Pittsburgh, Pa., was honored as Ms. Elk and Brother Joseph Gregory, Past Presiding Exalted Ruler, Twin County Lodge #838, Vandergrift, Pa., was honored as Mr. Elk. Both were honored for their dedicated service and efforts where they counted most.

Daughter Betty J. Burton served as mistress of ceremonies and Daughter Ruler Arlene Galmer, PSP Bon Ami Temple #49, and Exalted Ruler James Fulton, North Side Lodge #124, gave a hearty welcome to the crowd. Both honorees were excited about their awards and shared a few words about their philosophy on life. Gregory said, “The best way to be happy is to make someone else happy.” Winbush said, “Do all the good you can for all the people you can.”

Bon Ami Temple #49 also recognized Good Daughter of the Year, Alice M. Jones and Good Brother of the Year, Morris Barren. This year’s event chairs were Carole H. Alexander (chair) and Willa B. Grannison (co-chair).

The soundtrack for the evening was provided by DJ “Ray Ray.”
