A well-dressed woman can never have too many handbags. Nearly 400 well dressed women and several dapper men attended the Annual BASH (Black Association of South Hills for Women) Scholarship luncheon on March 31, at the Pittsburgh Airport Marriott Hotel with the theme “Handbags, Heels and Hope.”

The afternoon featured vendors, lunch, a healthy 50/50 raffle and the centerpiece of the afternoon was ten games of Bingo with a twist. The prizes were fabulous handbags. Guests were able to decide which handbag they could play for and purchase the appropriate bingo cards.

The ladies of BASH offered the Steve Madden Hobo bag, a beautiful Kate Spade, a sharp Dooney & Bourke, a fine Bruce Makowsky, the innovative Miche Bag and Etienne Aigner. Coach and Michael Kors handbags made an appearance, as well as well as a glorious bag from Talbots. It was a fun afternoon and the proceeds are dedicated to creating scholarships for deserving students that are college bound.

The handbag models: Karyn Hakeem, Nia Mack, Jackie Reynolds, Myrna Snowden and Samantha Tyler. Two BASH husbands, Bernard Mack and Gary Walton provided the soundtrack.

BASH officers: Renee Mack (president), Wilma McNeese (Vice President), Waverly Nesmith (treasurer), Debra Hakeem (recording secretary) and Sheila McCollum (corresponding secretary).
