As the rain and snow mix pelted the greater Pittsburgh area outdoors, the competition inside the Oliver High School gym heated up fiercely. The Zaffuto Classic Judo tournament Oct. 29 brought out the best in the South Hills Judo Club. Competitors in the men’s, mixed juniors and juniors class all competed for the top spots at the tournament. Nicola V. Zaffuto was honored for his sixteen years of devotion to the community and the sport of Judo. The special award was presented to Zaffuto by Masters Instructor and Event Coordinator Rick Brown.
