In the movie “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” the dinner guest was a surprise, but at the Pittsburgh reincarnation of the movie, “Savoy, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner,” the first dinner guest/guest bartenders were announced well in advance.

On Aug. 11 at the Savoy Restaurant, Savoy owners Chuck Sanders and his wife, Elisa, partnered with The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust for the first Savoy Serving the Future Initiative.

Dozens enjoyed the elegant atmosphere and fine cuisine with celebrity hosts, actress Sheryl Lee Ralph, the original Broadway Dream Girl, and award-winning trumpeter Sean Jones. Jones and Ralph paired up behind the bar and served the signature drinks of the evening, the Divatini and the Mantini.

On this special evening, partial proceeds from the designated drinks and the award winning signature dish Savoy Chicken Satay will support the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s jazz festival, Pittsburgh Jazz Live International. Savoy was the generous sponsor for the festival this past June and will support the June 2012 festival through this initiative.

Janis Burley Wilson, vice president of education and director of jazz programs for the Trust says, “the Savoy family and the Trust share the same vision; to improve the quality of life in the city of Pittsburgh.”
