Predictions indicate that by the year 2014 the majority of the world’s population will own a smart phone. That is music to the ears of Curtis and Cassandra Brown, founders of Jireh Mobile.

For more than five years the couple has been making their mark in the mobile phone industry and is excited to be a part of such a phenomenon. “Technology is the way of the world,” pointed out Cassandra. “As a premier mobile marketing solutions provider, our opportunities are unlimited within such an innovative and growing industry.”

Jireh Mobile is described by Curtis as a mobile marketing solutions company that provides interactive mobile marketing tools that enhance any marketing strategy, enabling businesses to reach their on-the-go client base. “We have established ourselves as a leader in interactive mobile campaign and database management,” he said. “Examining mobile marketing, social media trends and placing high priority on the end-users experience has given Jireh Mobile an edge in the mobile marketing industry.”

Services provided by Jireh include mobile content delivery, providing interactive SMS (short message service) messaging and Bluetooth media broadcasts. Within the last three years, developing mobile web applications known as apps has become a major component of the couple’s business. Developed for iPhone, iPad, Touch, Android, and Blackberry phones, Curtis labeled the word app as a term used to describe Internet applications. He said customized apps serve as a form of branding for businesses, strengthen ties with customers, assist in reaching new prospects and make the work force more productive.

Based on the demand, Cassandra explained that some apps are free while others are available for a fee. She also pointed out that apps are available for everything; music, sports, coupons, travel, gas and religion to name a few.

With Google officials classifying Pittsburgh as one of the top world cities for computer science and technology poised as a region full of entrepreneurs, the Browns are working toward establishing a presence for Jireh Mobile through their SMS/text messaging services.

Verona Borough and the Allegheny County Parks department are two of Jirehs’ newest mobile content delivery clients. One of the first municipalities in Allegheny County to use SMS, Verona sends mobile alerts to its residents. Alerts will consist of a variety of information like meeting notices, upcoming events or emergency information.

While conducting a feasibility study for the County Parks department, the Browns will provide a text message service that allows county residents to send in text messages that will alert the county about issues in the parks.

Savoy Restaurant, Fever Drink, the Poise Foundation, Duquesne University Small Business Development Center, and Z-Best Barbeque, are other Jireh Mobile clients. The August Wilson Center is also a partner. “With mobile marketing serving as a contemporary and innovative tool to reach the mobile consumer in a very efficient and cost effective way, we hope to expand our cliental to include small, medium and large businesses and non-profits, projects,” Curtis said.

A nurse of 15 years, Cassandra views their business expanding into the mobile health side of the industry. With two-thirds of mobile phone users subscribing to SMS text messaging, which equates to approximately 1.8 billion people actively texting, she sees it as a normal transition that patients be able to access their health care records. She said that President Barack Obama’s administration has mandated that by 2014 every resident should have an electronic health record.

The UPMC system is doing that now. By partnering with a company involved with diabetic care, she said their desire is to provide health care tips and mobile alerts.

Entrepreneurs for more than 15 years, the couple started out by developing a Christian hip-hop clothing line. In April of 2005, they say became the world’s first MP3 formatted ringtone site to offer Christian hip-hop mobile content. “As mobile marketing evolved we saw an opportunity to offer our mobile content distribution services as well as SMS campaign and database management to a wide range of clients,” Curtis said. “Today our goal is to determine how mobile alerts, coupons, checking account alerts, a mobile website or mobile application development fits our customers’ needs.”

Located at 239 Fourth St., Downtown, the best way to reach Jireh Mobile is by calling 412-573-6110 or by texting Jireh 70 to 77950.
