On March 26, at the Olympia Banquet Facility in East Pittsburgh, Bon Ami Temple #49 (Improved, Benevolent, Protective Order Elks of the World) held their annual dinner honoring members of the community.

After a scrumptious meal and welcome by Brother Johnny Jiggetts (Past Grand Exalted Ruler) and Daughter Arlene Galmer (Daughter Ruler), plaques were presented to three community honorees. Kelly Allen and Patricia Hester, owners of Divine Hair Studio in Penn Hills received the Entrepreneur of the Year Award. The Community Service Award was presented to Rev. Glenn Grayson, Senior Pastor of Wesley Center AMEZ Church and The Civic Service Award went to Terri Baltimore, program director of the Hill House Association.

Outstanding members of Elkdom were also honored on this eve­ning. James E. Griffin, president of West Virginia State Association was named as Mr. Elk, while Catherine Y. Finney, Past Presiding Daughter Ruler, Evening Star Temple #85 was selected as Ms. Elk. This year’s charitable donation was presented to Womanspace East Inc.

During the evening guests enjoyed the wit of Johanna Simmons who served as mistress of ceremonies and also sang several musical selections. Also on the program was Daughter Audrey ­Harris-Smith, Daughter Mary Louise Robinson, Carla Mangin, Theresa Mickle and Nazzera McMillan (event chairperson).
