The annual card party hosted by the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Pittsburgh Alumnae Chapter is a great winter break. On Jan. 22, more than 300 ladies and two gents joined the Deltas at the Rivers Club for a great afternoon of dining, cards and bingo.

A Red Carpet Event was the theme for the day. Photographer, Ahmad Sandidge of Sandidge Photography was on hand to take pictures of friends, mother and daughter teams and soul sisters.

The backdrop for the photos had a Hollywood theme, complete with red carpet and giant Oscars. The pictures were ready to take home that same day.

The card party is famous for the dozens of prizes to bid on and the door prizes seemed to be endless. The big prize of the day was the 50/50 raffle. The winner, Claudette Lewis, walked away with $500.

After a hearty lunch of turkey, stuffing, green beans, mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce, it was time for the games to begin. The main ballroom was reserved for bingo while bridge, spades and pinochle was played in the second ballroom.

It may have been cold outside but the Deltas provided a warm and fun afternoon for all in attendance.

The Pittsburgh Alumnae Chapter asks that you mark your calendars for their Regional Day of Service, April 2, 10 a.m. at Nazarene Baptist Church, 7053 Hamilton Ave., Pittsburgh. The speaker will be Min. Jacqueline Lyde with Cynthia Bradley King as presenter.

The event is free and open to the public.
