The celebration of one of Pittsburgh’s finest gems, Jackie Dixon, director of government relations for Giant Eagle, Inc., took place at the 3rd annual Diamond Gala benefiting Cribs for Kids Infant Safe Sleep Initiative, presented by Giant Eagle, Inc., Dec. 3 at the Pittsburgh Athletic Association in Oakland.

Dixon was the recipient of the “Diamond Jewel Award” which is presented at the Diamond Gala each year to an individual who represents the spirit of community involvement, kindness and generosity, and the celebration of people around us who sparkle and shine.

Jackie was selected for her great acts of community service and charitable giving for the causes that she holds dear. She is vice president of community relations for the Ladies Hospital Aid Society, a member of the Carlow University Board of Trustees and the Executive and Activities Board of the Fox Chapel Area Newcomers’ Club. Other active board service memberships include the Magee Womens Foundation & Research Institute; Pittsburgh Botanic Garden; North Hills Community Outreach; ACLD; University Of Pittsburgh Community Research Advisory Board; Homewood-Squirrel Hill-Point Breeze Redd-Up Coalition; Highmark Medical Review Committee; League of Women Voters of Greater Pittsburgh; Fox Chapel Area Rotary Club and American Association of University Women; the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh, the National Council of Jewish Women-Pittsburgh, and the Heritage Community Initiative in Braddock.

A philanthropic woman with a commitment to service, Jackie has received numerous awards in the community and at Giant Eagle, but her most treasured one is “The Frieda G. Shapira Community Service Award.”

A woman of spirit and spirituality, Jackie is a member of Bible Center Church in Homewood and serves on its budget and finance committee.

The “Diamond Jewel Award” was presented to her by David Johnson, Co-Anchor, WPXI and the Hon. Mike Turzai.
