AUG. 20—Jesus Anoints Me Ministry will host the 2010 City-Wide Back to School Worship Service and Concert at 7 p.m. at Petra International Ministries, 235 Eastgate Dr., East Hills. There will be praise and worship followed by an after hour worship and party from 10:30 p.m.-2:30 a.m. hosted by the Petra Youth Nation. The cost is $5. AUG. 22—The Women’s Ministry of Metropolitan Baptist Church, 22-24 Sampsonia St., North Side, will host their Annual Women’s Spirituality Day at 8 a.m. The guest preacher for the service will be Minister Valda R. AUG. 23—The Pittsburgh Gospel Choir will host Auditions for the 2010-2011 season from 6-7 p.m. at East Liberty Presbyterian Church, 616 South Highland Ave., East Liberty. They are seeking new volunteer members, especially with tenor and bass voices. The group performs classical, spiritual, traditional and contemporary gospel. Auditions will be held on Mondays during the months of August and September.
AUG. 25—The Music Ministry of Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church, 6111 Rodman St., East Liberty, will host the Rodman Music Workshop at “The Street” at 6:45 p.m. The workshop will run through Aug. 28 and will be led by Dr. Idella Johnson. AUG. 28—The Education Department of Pentecostal Temple COGIC, 6300 East Liberty Blvd., East Liberty, will host its Back to School Celebration, “I Got Your Back” from 1-4 p.m. This is an event for all local youth, especially in the East Liberty community. Youths will receive various school supplies for the new school year, fellowship, fun, entertainment and special giveaways. There will also be information for parents. ONGOING—Pittsburgh Spirit & Soul will host a Friday Lunchtime Gospel Hour from 12:15-1 p.m. at 937 Liberty Ave., Cultural District. Every Friday, from now until September, Rev.
