ACHIEVERS— The Iota Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc’s held its 2009 Achievement Awards Dinner at Rodef Shalom in Squirrel Hill. The chapter is operated by professional African-American men who volunteer to improve the quality of life of people in the greater Pittsburgh community. Part of this program is recognizing individuals within the local community whose contributions have made a difference in the lives of others. They were honored in areas of business, medicine, education and community advocacy, as well as a Citizen of the Year award and an “Omega Man of the Year” to an undergrad and grad. The winners were, from left: Y’hoshua Murray, Edinboro, undergraduate Omega Man of the Year; Dr. Leon Williams Jr., medicine; Ron Hunt, first vice president, Niagara Bank, Omega Man of the Year; Nancy Washington Ph.D., Milton Washington, Ph.D., community leaders, Citizen of the Year; Herman Jones, Ph.D., associate professor of social work, education; Keith Key, president and CEO KBK Enterprises, business; and Evan Frazier, president and CEO, Hill House Association, community advocacy.
