Another visit to New England ends with another loss

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Jarvis Jones (95) and cornerback Ike Taylor (24) tackle New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount in the fourth quarter of an NFL football game Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, in Foxborough, Mass. The Patriots won 55-31. (AP Photo/Steven Senne) Another game at New England against Tom Brady ends in another loss, this time in embarrassing fashion. The team should certainly be ashamed of the display they put on as they allowed the most yards against them in the history of the franchise (610), they allowed 55 points and they were outscored 31-7 after tying the game in the 3rd quarter.

Game Day Preview: Pittsburgh Steelers at New England Patriots

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger talks with Oakland Raiders defensive tackle Stacy McGee after game in Oakland, Calif., Oct. 27. The Raiders won 21-18. (AP Photo/Marcio Jose Sanchez) At 2-5; the Steelers are officially in crisis mode. Their reward? A trip to New England where they never win against Tom Brady and the Patriots. The season is rapidly slipping away and it’s on Mike Tomlin, Ben Roethlisberger and the rest of the coaches and veterans to not let this ship completely sink.

At The Finish Line…Where Only the Truth Matters

Terrelle Pryor (2) of the Oakland Raiders stretches before game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Oakland, Calif., Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013. (AP Photo/David Seelig) My Bad! I called for the Steelers to win and Terrelle Pryor to have a good game for the Oakland Raiders. We got half the deal. I have to be careful when I put that stuff out there. My predictions and projections can be very powerful! David Ortiz . . . aka “Big Papi” is just that. The World Series MVP was on base 19 times in 6 games with a batting percentage of 683, the highest in history behind Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. Are you kidding me? And guess who got on base more? Yep, you guessed it – Barry Bonds! You forgot how great he was huh!?!?

Plaxico Burress embracing role of Steelers elder statesman

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Plaxico Burress (80) at practice during NFL football training camp at the team training facility in Latrobe, Pa. on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 . (AP Photo/Keith Srakocic) by Will Graves AP Sports Writer LATROBE, Pa. (AP) — Plaxico Burress turns 36 next Monday, an age the Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver jokes makes him “grandpa” in a locker room filled with kids who weren’t even playing Pop Warner when Burress made his NFL debut nine months after the turn of the millennium. Look closely enough at Burress’ still impossibly youthful face and you’ll see a fleck or two of gray in his chin stubble. It’s only when Burress talks that the years — and the perspective they provide — become evident. In the twilight of a career that remains enigmatic at best and erratic at worst, this is Burress’ last stand. And he knows it. Even more, he’s OK with it.
