Community Calendar 10-23-13

State of Black Pittsburgh OCT. 26—The Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh will host the State of Black Pittsburgh Conference 2013 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, 1000 Fort Duquesne Blvd., Downtown. National Urban League President & CEO Marc Morial will be the keynote luncheon speaker. There will be a job and resource fair, various workshops, followed by the 95th Anniversary Luncheon. There will also be a kids and youth track for ages 4-18. Foolishness of Preaching OCT. 11—Mount Carmel Baptist Church, 90 Port Perry Rd., North Versailles, will host its annual “Foolishness of Preaching” Worship Services at 7 p.m. Pastor Karen Garland, of First Baptist Church of West Mifflin, will be the guest preacher. The service is designed to be evangelistic and focus on preaching that truly ministers to lost souls as well as growing Christians and leaders. Ethics in Business SEPT. 25—Duquesne University’s Schools of Business, Pharmacy, Nursing and Health Sciences will host its Ethics in the Business of Science and Healthcare Workshop from 8-11:30 a.m. at Duquesne University’s Power Center Ballroom, 600 Forbes Ave., Uptown. Paul O’Neill, the 72nd secretary of the U.S. Treasury and former chairman and CEO of Alcoa, will be the keynote speaker. Registration is required and a continental breakfast will be provided.
