by Roxanne Jones (CNN) — I fell in love on a Monday night. Now, many may say a teenage girl can’t know about such things. But that night as I watched Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Dorsett roll downfield 99 yards for a touchdown, I fell head-over-heals in love with the NFL. It was January 3, 1983 — Monday Night Football, Dallas vs. Minnesota. I’d never seen anything so inspiring. Dorsett was so free, so graceful and so powerful to me. He was focused and determined. Watching him break free of his competitors, those who wanted to bring him down and stop him from reaching his goal, I was in awe. And I knew then that his run capsulized all that I wanted to accomplish in my life.

They’ve come up short in the playoffs both times, eliminated with a pair of disappointing early exits. The Penguins are playing better defense so far this season, and embattled goalie Marc-Andre Fleury is leading the way.

Of course, he’d like to stop having to prove it. The rookie running back will make his long awaited debut Sunday when the Pittsburgh Steelers travel to London to face the Minnesota Vikings. Bell hasn’t played since spraining his right foot two carries into a preseason game against Washington last month. Originally told he would be out eight weeks, Bell plans to be ready in six. He practiced on Wednesday and barring a late setback will be available as the Steelers try to avoid their first 0-4 start since 1986. While Pittsburgh’s problems go far deeper than the running game – which happens to be 31st in the league – his teammates are anxious to get a look at the second-round pick on the field instead of on the sideline in street clothes.

(AP Photo/File) by Tim DahlbergAP Boxing Writer LAS VEGAS (AP) — One point on one card, a couple of points on some others. Ken Norton fought the greats, but the decisions he needed to be great never seemed to go his way. He busted Muhammad Ali’s jaw to hand him only his second defeat. But he lost two narrow decisions to Ali the next two times they’d meet, including their final 1976 fight at Yankee Stadium. And after he lost by just one point to Larry Holmes in their 1978 heavyweight title fight, Norton’s career was all but over. “Kenny was a good, good fighter. He beat a lot of guys,” said Ed Schuyler Jr., who covered many of Norton’s fights for The Associated Press. “He gave Ali fits because Ali let him fight coming forward instead of making him back up.”

He hasn’t had too many of them this season.
