CORE motorcycle ride
JULY 28—The Center for Organ Recovery & Education will host its 2nd annual “Operation Pledge-for-Life” Motorcycle Ride at 9 a.m. at the Hot Metal Harley-Davidson, 1122 Lebanon Rd., West Mifflin. This is a motorcycle ride to raise awareness of the need for organ, tissue and cornea donors. Riders will depart at 11 a.m. and ride to the MountainFest Motorcycle Rally in Morgantown, W. Stop Police Brutality
JULY 28—The Black and White Reunion will host a Stop Police Brutality Barbeque from 2-6 p.m. at Schenley Park, Overlook #2, Oakland. This is a funraiser and a place to meet individuals who are organizing to stop police brutality. There will be discussions, food, games, petitions and more. AUG. 3—The Northside Oldtimers will host a Unity Day Gathering at 8 p.m. at West View Banquet Hall, 398 Perry Highway, North Side. There will be music by DJ Mac Daddy. There will also be an Unity Gathering on Aug. 4 and a Praise in the Park on Aug. 5, both at West Park in the North Side. This is all part of the organization’s annual Day of Unity and Peace event. Gear for Grades
ONGOING—Citizens Bank and the Homeless Children’s Education Fund in Allegheny County will host its Gear for Grades Initiative 2012 at local branches. Individuals are invited to donate school supplies to help children go back to school with the items they need. Collections will be taken until Aug. 10. ONGOING—The Allegheny County Department of Human Services will host their SummerFood Program at more than 100 sites through Allegheny County. From now through Aug. 17, the program will offer free breakfast, lunch and recreational programs to children up to 18 years old, as well as eligible individuals with intellectual or physical disabilities 19 year or older. ONGOING—Citiparks will host its Community Farmers’ Market from 3:30-7:30 p.m. at five locations around the City of Pittsburgh.
