Spring Car Cruise
MAY 23—Citiparks Brookline Recreation Center will host a Spring Car Cruise from 5 p.m. to dusk at 1400 Brookline Blvd., Brookline. There will be food, refreshments and prizes. For more information, call 412-255-2539.
Summer Lectures
MAY 24—The Reformed Presbyterian Home and the Aging Institute of the University of Pittsburgh will host its Summer Lecture Series at 6:15 p.m. at 2344 Perrysville Ave., North Side. The series will address important issues facing seniors, their families and caregivers. This is the first part of the series and the topic will be “Depression in Later Life-symptoms, prevalence, risk factors and treatments. Skin Cancer Screenings
MAY 26—The Skin Cancer Foundation will host its “Road to Healthy Skin Tour” from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Rite Aid Wellness Store, 201 Grace St., Pittsburgh. Free skin cancer screenings will be given from board-certified dermatologists. Screenings will be done on a first come, first served basis. For more information, visit www.skincancer.org/Tour.
Youth Football Camp
JUNE 1—Brandon Marshall and the Pittsburgh Public Schools will host a Youth Football Camp from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Pittsburgh Obama Academy, 129 Denniston St., East Liberty. Anniversary Celebration
JUNE 7—The University of Pittsburgh’s Center on Race and Social Problems will host its 10th Anniversary Celebration with NAACP President Benjamin Jealous at 5 p.m. at Alumni Hall, 4227 Fifth Ave., Oakland. Jealous will address racial profiling and the Trayvon Martin case with a lecture titled, “Trayvon Martin: Racial Profiling and the Urgent Need to Heal America.” There will also be a reception to follow. Heritage Day Celebration
JUNE 8—The Pittsburgh Pirates will host its African American Heritage Day Celebration Sports Luncheon at 12 p.m. at the PNC Park Lexus Club, 115 Federal St., North Shore. The keynote speaker will be Pittsburgh Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin. There will also be appearances by other Pirates celebrities. Mad Hot Ballroom
JUNE 10—Pittsburgh Mercy Health Systems will host Mad Hot Ballroom Pittsburgh from 5-9 p.m. at the Westin Convention Center, 1000 Penn Ave., Downtown. Teams from local companies and organizations will compete before judges in a friendly ballroom dance competition. Leadership Summit
JUNE 14—The Pittsburgh African American Leadership Association will host the 4th Annual African American Leadership Summit from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, 100 Lytton Ave., Oakland. The theme for the two-day summit is “Mission Possible with Leadership.” The keynote speaker will be Jacquie Hood Martin, a nationally recognized author and wife of CNN contributor, Roland Martin.
