August in December
Written by Debbie Norrell
Museum gift shops are some of my favorite places to shop. Last month I attended the Tribute to Motown at the August Wilson Center. During intermission I checked out the gift shop. I was so excited by it that I decided to feature this unique store in my 2009 gift guide. There isn’t enough room to feature everything that I fell in love with but I hope this will wet your shopping appetite and you’ll take a visit to the shop.
I think there is something for everyone, from the price conscious to the big spender and the collector. One of the first things that caught my eye was beautiful African bracelets for $3.99 and necklaces for $5.99. These would make wonderful Christmas or Kwanzaa gifts. Ladies, pick up several of these for stocking stuffers or treat yourself.

Check out the shop before or after a performance or just visit the gift shop for your holiday needs. There is so much to see and I know you’ll love it.

What had happened was
Written by Debbie Norrell
Don’t you wish you could be a fly on the wall, or in this case, a bird in a tree? The more I hear the Tiger Woods saga the more it sounds so crazy, so far-fetched. When Woods wouldn’t give up any more information it sent the tabloids into a frenzy. I’m sure “Saturday Night Live” will do a parody on the story and I decided to have some fun with the most recent news story myself.
In my parody of that night near Orlando I picture Tiger and his wife having an argument over alleged phone calls made to one woman who has been called a professional home wrecker and another who claims to have saved all of Tiger’s text messages. Isn’t technology wonderful? Wifey is not happy and she wants to know what’s up. Tiger does his best Rick James impression and says “I’m Tiger Woods.”
