This week was all about causes and being proud of your BLACK heritage. I visited Downtown Pittsburgh to check out the Annual African American Heritage parade, which honored the late legendary activist Harvey Adams Jr. A number of organizations and youth marched from the Mellon Arena to the new August Wilson Center for African American Culture in Downtown Pittsburgh. It was great to see everyone come out to see our cultural history.| Members of the JB’s at Navarro that featured legend Fred Wesley.

My next stop was at the North Side Coalition for Fair Housing Women’s Walk for Peace featuring the legendary gospel singer Yolanda Adams. The Women’s Walk had a great turnout and radio talk show host Bev Smith gave the community some words of wisdom. When Yolanda took the stage, she sang her hit songs. Some people in the crowd where in shock when Yolanda sang her songs and simply left the stage without communicating with any of her fans afterwards.
My next stop was at St. Benedict the Moor School in the Hill District where Geech celebrated his 50th birthday with family and friends. It was a great turnout and I have to shout out my girl Michelle for all of the hard work done at this event.

My next stop was at Navarro in Downtown Pittsburgh where Fred Wesley and JB’s performed for a crowd that enjoyed classic R&B and soul music. Everyone who came out had a great time and it was a classy event that featured some of Pittsburgh’s most prominent musicians. If you missed it, you really missed out.
My final destination was at the Shadow Lounge and Ava in East Liberty where Jason of First Fridays held an event called “Autumn Spice” and as usual, it was off the chain. Pittsburgh’s Black professionals came out and partied the night away and had a great time.
