To commemorate its 20th anniversary, Bishop Mann said there are a number of improvements that are scheduled to take place throughout the year. The major changes include a substantial increase in the wattage, which is currently 1000 watts in the daytime and 70 watts at night, and the plan to switch to high definition audio.
“We want it to be accessible to the tri-state area,” said Bishop Mann. “We offer quality programming.” He said he thanks the listeners who answered the call and participated in the raising of $4500 so that the improvements could be made.
Along with the improvements, Bishop Mann said there are several concerts with major gospel artists in the works to celebrate the occasion.
Bishop Mann said his hopes for the future are to acquire an FM signal so they can expand further, to broaden their programming and strengthen their relationship with Sheridan Broadcasting, to partner with more churches and community organizations, and “for people to know we are here and we’re here for the community.”
“We want to continue to present the gospel in excellence and touch individuals,” said Penny.
Along with its radio broadcast, WGBN can also be heard online.
