Today, Marva H. Harris begins an interim stint as president and CEO of the August Wilson Center for African American Culture. Oliver W. Byrd, chairperson of the board of directors of the AWC, made the announcement Friday.

Sophisticated lady, Colbert dies
Elegant and “jazzy” are the words most frequently used to describe Vivian Colbert of Homewood. An original member of the Twilighter’s Club, Colbert passed on June 14 after an extended illness. She was 81.
