Last week, Rev. Jeremiah Wright broke his silence. After Sen. Barack Obama delivered an historic speech on March 18 that addressed this country’s difficulties with the issue of race, the distraction caused by the media’s repeated airing of segments of an old Wright sermon appeared to have finally become a thing of the past. In Obama’s quest to secure the nod to be the Democratic party presidential nominee, he had addressed the Wright matter with boldness and clarity. For the most part, the issue was dead.

Katz Graduate School of Business. Dr. Audrey J. Murrell of the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz Graduate School of Business and Donna Woodall from the Microsoft Corp. hosted approximately 70 high school girls throughout the day.

The Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Point Breeze has announced that one of its staff, Maryln Black, was recognized as the 2008 Professional Woman of the Year by the Pittsburgh Club of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Club, Inc. The award is presented to a minority woman that the Pittsburgh Club has deemed outstanding in her chosen profession while providing excellent service in the Pittsburgh community.

ATLANTA—More than three out of four new moms now breast-feed their infants, the highest rate in the U.S. in at least 20 years, according to a a government report released April 30. About 77 percent of new mothers breast-feed, at least briefly, up from 60 percent in 1993-1994, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.
