Unity week
SEPT. 17—Mount Carmel Baptist Church, 90 Port Perry Rd., North Versailles, will host a Unity service at 7 p.m. The theme is “Unity Year.” The weeklong services will run through Sept. 19. Women’s conference
SEPT. 19—Wesley Center AME Zion Church, 2701 Centre Ave., Hill District, will host their 2008 Women’s Weekend Conference at 7 p.m. The guest speaker will be evangelist Michelle Simpson. On Sept. 20 there will be a prayer breakfast with Pastor Glenda Sutton from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Pittsburgh Athletic Association, 4215 Fifth Ave., Oakland. There will be workshops and a lunch. Showcase of stars
SEPT. 19—St. Paul AME Church, 1350 Locust St., McKeesport, will host auditions for their “First Fridays” Showcase of Stars at 7 p.m. The church is looking for people to share their God-given talents. They are looking for comedians, dancers, instrumentalists, mimes, singers and spoken word artists. The actual showcase is Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. The only fee is $5 for individuals and $10 for groups.
